Woman from India's Rajasthan marries Upper Dir Man

LOWER DIR: On Tuesday, Anju, an Indian woman, performed a judicial marriage. Anju traveled to Upper Dir to meet with her "Facebook friend" Nasrullah.

Anju, a 35-year-old mother of two, traveled last week from Rajasthan to Pakistan to meet Nasrullah, with whom she had become friends on Facebook.

She first changed her name to Fatima and converted to Islam before the couple was taken to the district courts, where a judge recorded her statement and performed the nikah, a copy of which was made available to the public.

Anju said in her statement that she went to see Nasrullah, 29 years old of her own free will and was happy to wed him.

Locals said that the pair were quickly transported to court under tight security, fled after the nikah, and were not permitted to speak to the media. Later, they went to the lovely Lowari Top region.

According to Upper Dir District Police Officer Mushtaq Khan, Anju had all the required travel documents.

Anju's situation has gained attention in the weeks since Pakistani woman Seema GhulamHaider illegally crossed into India after falling in love with a man in the Greater Noida neighborhood bordering New Delhi.
